Hexane is soluble in benzene while ethyl alchole soluble in water

Ethyl alcohol is soluble in water because of formation of hydrogen bonds between hydroxyl group and water . Hexane is neither polar not it contain any electronegative element like oxygen , fluorine, nitrogen so it is not soluble in water . Hexane is soluble in benzenebecause benzene is also a non polar compound .

The non-polar alkanes are insoluble in water but are readily soluble in non-polar solvents. Since hexane is non-polar it is soluble in benzene and likewise since the ethyl alcohol is polar it is soluble in water
