The personality mentioned in the picture is Kamala devi Chattopadhyay. . She was one of the famous Social Reformer and Freedom fighter. She was well known in her contribution in India's freedom struggle. She supported the cultural activities like drama, dance etc. Today we are experiencing many cultural institutions because of her.

She was born on 3rd April, 1903 in Manglore, Karnataka. Her Father Ananthaya Dhareshwar was District collector. She was expectional student in her studies. She was married at the age of 14 years and widowed. Then she married to Haridanath. Her Parents inspired her from the prominent freedom fighters like Annie besant, Ghokale etc. This let her to participate in Swadeshi movement.

She was awarded with several awards like Ramon Magsaysay Award, Padma Bhushan etc. She started acting in movies also. She founded All india women conference and led it to achieve freedom. She was the first woman in India to be jailed in 1930 after Salt Satyagraha. She United all the woman to achieve freedom. Her one of the famous movie was Shankar Parvati.

Her famous books were Indian Embroidery, Awakening woman, The land of Superlatives, Society, Socialism; Chetana etc...
