Advantages:

During the British rule, some basic infrastructure was developed in the form of railways, water transport, ports, post and telegraph, etc.

Disadvantages

• Divide and Rule Policy.

• Harsh and racist actions against Indians

• British held much of the political and economic power.

• Restricted Indian-owned industries such as cotton textiles,

• Conversion to cash crops reduced food production, causing famines in the late 1800s.

• Loss of cultural practices and language

• Divisions between "Anglicized" elites and traditional Indians
