Taking LCM, we get,

a^{2}y - b^{2}x = 0 ------------> 1

a^{2}yb + b^{2}xa = axy + bxy ------------> 2

From 1,  b^{2}x = a^{2}y

Substitute in 2

a^{2}y ( a+b ) = xy (a + b)

a^{2} = x

Hence from 1 ,   b^{2} = y

Hence the final answer is x = a^{2}  and y = b^{2}.
