Given :

  • Dimensions of platform are 1.5m, 2m and 2m
  • Dimensions of bricks are 25cm, 15cm and 10cm.

To find :

  • Number of bricks required to build the base of statue.

Solution :

Length of cuboidal platform, l = 2m

Breadth of cuboidal platform, b = 2m

Height of cuboidal platform, h = 1.5m

Volume of cuboid = l * b * h

⇒  Volume of platform = 2 * 2 * 1.5

⇒  Volume of platform = 6 m³

Now, length of brick, l = 25 cm = 25/100 m = 0.25m

Breadth of brick, b = 15 cm = 15/100 m = 0.15m

Height of brick, h = 10 cm = 10/100 m = 0.1m

⇒  Volume of brick = (0.25 * 0.15 * 0.1) m³

⇒  Volume of brick = 3.75 × 10⁻³ m³

Now number of bricks required :

Number of bricks = Volume of platform/Volume of brick

⇒  Number of bricks = 6/(3.75 × 10⁻³)

⇒  Number of bricks = 1600

Therefore,

Number of bricks required = 1600

The length of the square base of the platform, l = 2m

The breadth of the square base of the platform, b = 2 m

The height of the platform, h = 1.5 m

∴ The volume of the cuboidal platform = l*b*h = 2 * 2 * 1.5 = 6 m³ …… (i)

The dimensions of 1 brick = 25cm*15cm*10cm

So, length = 0.25 m

Breadth = 0.15 m

Height = 0.10 m

∴ The volume of the 1 brick = length*breadth*height = 0.25 * 0.15 * 0.10 = 3.75 * 10⁻³ m³ …… (ii)

The no. of bricks that are required to build the base of the statue is,

= [Volume of the cuboidal platform] / [Volume of the 1 brick]

= 6 / [3.75 * 10⁻³]

= 1.6 * 10³

= 1600
