Heterotrophic nutrition is of three types

– saprophytic,

parasitic

and holozoic.

Saprophytic or Saprotrophic Nutrition: It is a mode of heterotrophic nutrition in which food is obtained from organic remains like dead organisms, excreta, fallen leaves, broken twigs, food articles, etc.

Holozoic nutrition: the word holozoic is made from two words- holo= whole and zoikos= animals and literally means animals which eat their food whole.

Saprobiontic/saprotrophic nutrition: Organisms feed on dead organic remains of other organisms.E.g.: decomposers

hetro means different and trophic means food

the organisms that obtain their food from other organisms are called heterotrops and this process of obtaining food is called hetrotrophic nutrition

according to the mode of nutrition hetrotrophi plants can be classified into the following types

  1. parasitic plants
  2. saprophytic plants
  3. symbiotic plants
  4. insectivirous plants

hope it helps
