Answer:

It was a pleasant day in Karen's life for she was out today for a walk which she missed alot most of the time. Going outside was an escape for her from her responsibilities as she was a mother of two, a 12-years-old boy and an 8-years-old girl. What a great way to start a new day! she thought. Karen decided to take short cut today to avoid time wasteness to her way to a public park and back home. It was already 6:00 am in the morning and Karen was worrying out for her children to be late and making them breakfast as well as getting them ready properly was a tiresome as well as time-consuming task. Her worry relieved a bit when she got a glimpse of ravishing sunrise. She was truly happy internally after a long time but as she was stretching and relaxing a bit after her second round, her ears caught a wailing sound and her gaze went straight to her right-side's shoulder. This was when she saw an old lady sitting on a wooden bench of the park, crying. At first, she thought it would be better minding her own business but it would have been cruel of her if the lady needed help and she decided to stay away. So she musters up her courage and accompanies the crying lady on the very bench. The old lady utterly ignores Karen's existence for a good ten minutes, but only then her attention draws to Karen when Karen puts her hand onto her shoulder and shakes her off. Karen was a bit nervous and scared for she had never seen any old lady or any older person cry in a place like this before. So she ventures and asks the lady the reason for her crying to which the lady looks at her in a questionable way which made Karen embarrassed immensely. Short after Karen's bravery and kindness, indeed, the lady tells her that her Son had died of a car accident 2 months ago just a day before her 60th birthday. The butterflies of embarrassment in Karen's stomach had transformed into rock in the span of minutes. The old lady continues telling her that her son was the only thing she had in her life after her family abandoned her when she married off to a man that her family didn't like. She says that 1st year of her marriage was the most beautiful one until in the 2nd, her husband also left her alone in the dark, striving. She got pregnant with Larry the same year and delivered him in the next. Larry made her harsh life sweet with his entity. She used to cry oceans of her past until she was blessed with someone, her son, who helped her forgetting it all. Upon hearing these heart-wrenching words, Karen's reverie went to her son. Her sun in her life. She wanted to stop the lady but she couldn't because she was a mother, she could understand the sheer pain of losing a child for which you had wished with all of your heart. So she listens to her all ears as an act of empathy. The lady cries more which makes Karen's heart ache and she bears the lady into a sympathetic hug and tells her that it's okay and that she shouldn't punish herself for something she had no control over. Karen asks her address so that she could help the lady get back to her home, safe and sound. Karen hires an uber and they both sit silently without even looking at eachother because a) Karen couldn't bring herself to say anything to her so she keeps wiping off her tears with a mute face and b) The lady had stopped crying by the time they reached to the lady's home. She helps her unlocking the lock for the lady's hands were shuddering. In the last few minutes, she requests Karen to join her for a cup of coffee but she declines it and promises her for another time. Karen cries all the way back home but there was a satisfaction in her heart of her children being safe.

The End.
