10% law states that Energy transfers from one trophic level to another trophic level is 10% of the total energy at the current trophic level.

The answer is :

there is only 10% flow of energy from one trophic level to the next higher level . due to this energy loss, only four or five trophic levels are present in each chain . it is known as 10% law.

Example-

For example, the Sun releases 1000 J of energy, then plants take only 10 J of energy from sunlight; thereafter, a deer would take 1 J from the plant.

This is known as 10% law ..
