Okay, the thing is he suffered from ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) , and lived a lot longer anyhow than expected, he had to die, his life had been a great inspiration for people across the globe, he had desire to live and to unravel the mysteries of the cosmos, that's what kept him alive for 55 years from his diagnosis.
