Inertia is the inability of an object to move on its own.

It is of three types:

  1. Inertia of rest. Eg:- We fall backwards when a car starts to move.
  2. Inertia of motion. Eg:- We fall forwards when breaks are suddenly applied.
  3. Inertia of direction. Eg:- When a sharp turn is made towards the right, we fall towards left and vice versa.

Answer:

The tendency of a body to continue to be in its state of rest or uniform motion even when acted upon by a force is called inertia.

inertia of a body is measures in terms of its mass. hence greater the mass ,more the inertia.
