Solution :-

First we will find Near time (Approx value) than, we will satisfy right option...

→ 5AM to 5PM = 12 hours = 12*60 = 720 min.

So,

→ clock gain in 3 min = 20 sec.

→ clock gains in 720 min = (20/3) * 720 = 4800 seconds = (4800/60) = 80 min. = 1 hour 20 min .

Therefore,

Actual time = 5PM - 1 :20 = 3:40 PM

We can conclude that , time is near 3:40. So, now we will take Near options time that is 3:48 PM and check if it satisfy the result.

→ 5AM to 3:48 PM = 10 hours + 48 min = 10 * 60 + 48 = 600 + 48 = 648 min.

So,

clock gain in 3 min = 20 sec.

→ clock gains in 648 min = (20/3) * 648 = 4320 seconds = (4800/60) = 72 min. = 1 hour 12 min .

Hence,

when when actual time was 3:48 PM , clock gains 1 hours , 12 min. and than time on watch is = 3:48 + 1 : 12 = 5 PM . (Satisfy.)

3:48 PM is right Answer.

Answer:

In 3 min=+20 second gain.

in 30 min=20*10=>200 seconds

In One hour=400 seconds.

In 12 hour(When clock strike 5:00pm)=>400×12

======>4800sec.

Now conver it in hour minutes......

4800/60=>72 min

or

1 h 12 min.

Therefore,

Actual time=5:00-1:12

=>3:48pm........
