Thermit reaction is a highly exothermic single displacement reaction where a high reactive metal displaces a low reactive metal from it's oxide.

→ As it is highly exothermic, it produces a large amount of heat that the metal which is produced is in molten form.

→ Example -

Fe2O3 + Al → Fe + Al2O3 + heat
