Observations in test tube A:

  • No visible reaction seems to occur.
  • No particular reaction involved.

Observations in test tube B:

  • Both the hydrochloric acid and sodium carbonate will dissociate completely in solution. The hydrogen ions will bond with an oxygen of the carbonate leaving you with Water, carbon dioxide, and dissolved NaCl.
  • HCl + Na2CO3 → NaCl + CO2 + H2O
