Element K:

percentage: 26.6%

Atomic mass: 39.1

Realative no of atoms: 26.6/ 39.1 = 0.68

Simplest ratio: 0.68/0.68 = 1

Simplest whole number ratio : 1*2 = 2

Element Cr:

percentage: 35.4%

Atomic mass: 52

Relative no. of atoms: 35.4 / 52 = 0.68

Simplest ratio: 0.68/0.68 = 1

Simplest whole number ratio : 1*2 = 2

Element O:

percentage: 38

Atomic mass : 16

Relative no. of atom: 38/ 16 = 2.37

Simplest Ratio: 2.37/0.68 = 3.4

Simplest whole number ratio = 3.4*2 = 6.8 ( approx 7)

Therefore the empirical formula is : K₂Cr₂O₇
