Hey There

Here's The Answer

__________________________

A.

Following steps can be taken to prevent corrosion of metals :-

  • We can paint metals to prevent direct contact between metal surface and moisture present in air, which is the reason for corrosion.
  • We can apply coating of stainless steel or aluminum on surface of metal, as they are corrosion resistance.

B.

Alloys are mixture of 2 or more metals.

  • Brass is an alloy that contains copper and zinc as major constituents.
  • Bronze is an alloy copper and tin as major constituents

C.

Some of the adverse effects of corrosion is mentioned below :-

  • Damage of metal equipment or tools.
  • Lose of efficiency of metal.
  • On large scale, can affect metal bridges and can lead to an accident.
  • Cost of repairing metal tool or equipment.

D.

Noble metals are metals which resist oxidation, even when heated. Some of the noble metal are silver, gold, platinum, they are mostly used in jwelery.

Hope It Helps.

Prevention which can be done to prevent metals from corrosion are :-

  • Corrosion :- It is natural process that converts the Refined metal into a chemically stable form such as oxide, hydroxide, or sulfide.

Prevention:-

  • By painting.
  • BY applying grease or oil.
  • By galvanisation:The process of depositing a thin layer of zinc metal on iron.
  • By tin plating and chromium plating.
  • By alloying it.

Alloys:-

  • An alloy is a combination of metals or metals combined with one or more other elements.
  • It is more stronger than that metals from which they are made.
  • They are more resistant to corrosion.
  • They have lower melting point.
  • Have lower electrical conductivity.

Metals that makes the Alloys of Brass :-

  • Brass is mixture of Copper ( Cu ) and Zinc ( Zn ).
  • Brass has a properties of machinability, ductility, wear-resistance, hardness, colour, electrical and thermal conductivity, hygiene and corrosion resistance including strength.
  • Locks. Gears. Bearings. Valves. Braces. Brackets. Base plates etc can be made from it.

Metals that makes the Alloys of Bronze:-

  • It is a mixture of Copper (Cu) and Tin.
  • It is vey tough and resistant to corrosion.
  • It is used to make Statues, coins, medals, utensils etc.

Adverse effects of Corrosion :-

  • High risk of employee injury or injury to the general public.
  • Loss of industrial equipment's time availability.
  • When appearance is affected, corrosion can reduce the overall value of a building or location.
  • Pipe blockages or mechanical damage to pumps, valves, etc.
  • Deterioration of natural and historic monuments as well as increase the risk of catastrophic equipment failures.

Noble metals :-

  • A metal or alloy relatively superior in resistance to corrosion or oxidation and also opposed to base metal is called as Noble metal. For example gold, silver, mercury etc.

  • They are such type of metals that ar used to make ornaments

Uses of Noble metals :-

  • Noble metals are valued for use in jewelry, coinage, electronics, medicine, and chemistry as catalysts.
  • Rhodium is also a noble metal used in mammography systems, aircraft spark plugs and fountain pens.
