Answer:

ENIGMA CIPHER

The Enigma machine is an encryption device developed and used in the early- to mid-20th century to protect commercial, diplomatic and military communication. It was employed extensively by Nazi Germany during World War II, in all branches of the German military.

DECODE A CODE

To decode the code, you must look for patterns of letters and then substitute guesses for the real letters. In Random Alphabet encoding, "SCIENCE" may be encoded as "AXBYKXY". In Rotated Alphabet encoding, all of the letters are rotated a certain amount.

DECODE A CIPHER

Scan through the cipher, looking for single-letter words. ...

Count how many times each symbol appears in the puzzle. ...

Pencil in your guesses over the ciphertext. ...

Look for apostrophes. ...

Look for repeating letter patterns. ...

Try to decipher two-, three-, and four-letter words

Answer:

The Enigma cipher was a field cipher used by the Germans during World War II. The Enigma is one of the better known historical encryption machines, and it actually refers to a range of similar cipher machines.

To decode the code, you must look for patterns of letters and then substitute guesses for the real letters. In Random Alphabet encoding, "SCIENCE" may be encoded as "AXBYKXY". In Rotated Alphabet encoding, all of the letters are rotated a certain amount.

To decode a message, you do the process in reverse. Look at the first letter in the coded message. Find it in the bottom row of your code sheet, then find the letter it corresponds to in the top row of your code sheet and write it above the encoded letter. This can be confusing at first!
