because CO2 is carbon dioxide but CO is carbon monoxide and it is a toxic gas

umm actually it is harmful for our body....co is gormed from incomplete combustion....so when it enters our lungs it can hamper our blood oxygen circulation...by mixing with haemoglobin...✔✔✔✔✔✔
