Total energy E radiated per unit time by a perfectly black body of surface area A is proportional to the fourth power of its absolute temperature T.

Mathematically, E α T4

E = σ AT4

where, σ = Stefan’s constant.

The Stefan's law is applicable only to black bodies and theoretical surfaces that absorb the incident heat radiation. For example for the hot objects apart form ideal radiator, the law is described in the following manner.
