The Muslims and Hindus had differences between each other. So Shaukat Ali and Muhammad Ali approaches Gandhiji and asked him if they could join forces to fight against the British.

Gandhiji saw this as an opportunity to bring peace between Muslims and Hindus. In the Congress session of nagpur in December 1920 the non cooperation movement was approved and Gandhiji launched the movement.

The movement spread from cities to countryside. Different groups of people interpreted this movement as they wanted . Gandhiji's name was said whenever they did something.
