Heya Akshi,
☆☆☆Diversity in living organisms☆☆☆
* Earth is the only planet where living organisms are found.
* They are classified as FLORA & FAUNA.
* It includes microbes to large organisms.
* Each and every organisms are unique and this uniqueness is called BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY.
* To study the diversity effecting it is necessary to arrange the organisms in order.
* Grouping of organisms are called CLASSIFICATION.
* Naming of organisms are called as NOMENCLATURE.
* TAXONOMY is the study which deals with identification od nomenclature and classification of organisms.
* CLAROLUS LINNOLUS - Father of taxonomy.
* Scientific names for organisms called BINOMIAL NOMENCLATURE.
CLASSIFICATION LEVEL:- Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Gene & Species.
IMPORTANCE OF CLASSIFICATION:-
Easier way to study, Helps in identification, Helps to know about all organisms, Gives relationship between other organisms & Provide information for development of organisms.
WHITTAKERS 5 KINGDOM CLASSIFICATION:-
1) Monera [eg. Bacteria]
2) Protista [eg. Protozoa] {This has a hair-like projections called CILIA/FLAGELLA]
3) Fungi [eg. Yeast]
4) Plantae [eg. Plants]
5) Animalia [eg. Animals]
PLANTAE is further classified:-
1) Thallophyta [eg. Ulothrix & Spirogyra]
2) Bryophyta [eg. Ricia & Funaria]
3) Pteridophyta < Gymnosperms [eg. Cycas & Pinus] < Angiosperms [eg.Ipomae]
ANIMALIA is further classified:-
1) Porifera [Also called sponges] eg. Sycon & Spongilla
2) Colenterata (Cnideria) [Diploblastic] eg.Sea anemone
3) Platyhelminthes [Dorseventrally flattened] eg. Liver fluke & planaria
4) Nematoda [cause elephantiasis disease-Filiarial worm] eg. Ascaris & Wchereria
5) Annelida [Segmented body] eg. Leech & earthworm
6) Arthopoda [largest group of animals, Joint appendages & body is segmented] eg. Spider & Butterfly.
7) Mollusca [little segmentation & kidney like organ for excretion] eg. Octopus & pila
8) Echinodermata [Pinny skinned & calcium carbonate structures] eg. star fish & sea cucumber
9) Protochordata [Has notochord] eg. Balanoglossus.
VERTEBRATA:-
1) Pisces [eg. Fishes]
2) Amphibians [eg. Frog]
3) Reptiles [eg. Lizard and crocodile]
4) Aves [eg. Birds]
5) Mammalia [eg. Humans]
Hope my answer helps you :)
