hey Raksha Bandhan is basically celebrated when a brother promises to his sister that he shall protect no matter what according to the history there are 2 types of story but here let me tell you one.. According to one legendary narrative, when Alexander the Great invaded India in 326 BCE, Roxana (or Roshanak, his wife) sent a sacred thread to Porus, asking him not to harm her husband in battle. In accordance with tradition, Porus, the king of Kaikeya kingdom, gave full respect to the rakhi. In the Battle of the Hydaspes, when Porus saw the rakhi on his own wrist and restrained himself from attacking Alexander personally. please check the internet for the other story.. hope it helps you!

Hey friend here is your answer

HAPPY RAKSHA BANDHAN

We celebrate raksha bandhan on which a girl ties rakhis on their brother's hand and wishes that the brother will protect sister.
The festival of Rakhi is celebrated in the holy month of Shravana to cherish the bond of brothers and sisters. On this day, sister ties a sacred thread on her brother's wrist and brother vows to protect his sister against all odds.

Hope it helps you.
