SODIUM and POTASSIUM are highly reactive elements.

When they ate exposed to air they catch fire

So to prevent this they are kept in kerosene

Sodium and potassium are alkali metals and are very reactive .They react violently with air and burn and get oxidized.Kerosene does not react with them and protects from getting oxidized.Thus they are stored in kerosene.
