Question

In an electric circuit, a battery and a bulb have been connected and the battery consists of two cells of equal potential difference. If the bulb is not glowing, then which tests will you perform in order to find out the reason for the bulb not glowing.

Answer

Here are few tests we can conduct to find the reason behind the bulb not glowing.

  • Check the terminals of the battery. Check whether the positive terminal of the battery is connected to the negative terminal. If like terminals are connected it obviously won't glow. For example if positive terminal is connected to positive terminal then the electrons can't follow through. So if the like terminals are connected make sure to change that and put positive terminal connected to negative terminal.

  • Check if the wire is broken in the circuit or not. Make sure to see if all the things are connected to the wire and the circuit is closed. If the circuit is open then obviously the electrons can't flow and will result in the bulb not glowing. So if the circuit is open make sure to close it.
