1. Fill a glass tumbler up to the brim with water and cover it with a piece of thick card. Press the card hard, so that there is no air in the glass tumbler.
2. Keep the card in position with one hand, invert the glass tumbler full of water.
3. Now withdraw the hand supporting the card.
4. you see that the peace of god does not fall though the glass tumbler, that is full of water, exerts pressure on the card in the downward direction.
5. The card does not fall because the atmospheric pressure acts on the card in the upward direction and holds the card in place. The upward atmospheric pressure acting on the card is greater than the downward pressure of water on the card.
6. This shows the presence of atmospheric pressure around us.
