It's is made from yellow colour so that if a train coincide the back word train see from far and stop self, as x show danger...

In order to indicate the staff concerned , that the train has arrived completely in to the station section with last vehicle being intact shall be distinguished by affixing a tail board ( usually cross X marked ) or tail lamp (last vehicle indicator ) in rear of train. It can the following types

By day , a tail board of approved design or a red painted tail lamp of approved design , which may unlit.By night , as well as thick, foggy or tempestuous weather impairing visibility during day , a red tail lamp of approved design, which shall be lit. or such device as may be authorized by special instruction issued by competent railway servant.In case of emergency only under special instructions a red flag may be used in lieu of tail board or unlit tail lamp with proper authorization from Divisional operational manager or Divisional safety officer.With EMU train during day time the last vehicle shall show a red cross ( X) against white back ground at the right hand bottom corner . at night as well as thick , foggy or tempestuous weather,a red light shall be shown in addition to red cross at the tail end.
