Given :-

Distance between home and office = 1.2 km

Time taken to cover the distance = 1.8 min

Speed = Distance/time = 1.2 km/1.8 min

= 2/3 Km/min

Now, required time to go = 1.5 minutes

So, new speed = Distance/time = 1.2/1.5

= 4/5 Km/min

So, change in speed = 4/5 - 2/3 = 12/15 - 10/15

= 2/15 Km/min

Converting to km/hr, multiply with 60

→ 2/15 × 60

= 8 km/hr

So, he should travel faster by a speed of 8 Km/hr.

Solutions :-

Given :
A car can travel the distance between the home and the office, which are 1.2 km apart,in 1.8 minutes.

Distance = 1.2 km
Time = 1.8 minutes
Speed = Distance / Time = 1.2/1.8 = 2/3 km/minutes

New speed of car = Distance / Time
= 1.2/1.5 = 4/5 km/minutes

How much faster must it travel to do the distance in 1.5 minutes :-

Change in speed = (4/5 - 2/3) km/minutes
= (12 - 10)/15 km/minutes
= 2/15 km/minutes

Now,
Convert the km/minutes to km/hour :-

1 minute = 2/15 km
60 minutes = (2 × 60)/15 = 8 km

Hence,
Car can travel faster by 8 km/hour to do the distance in 1.5 minutes.
