A number is subtracted from 2/5 and the difference is multiplied by 10 the result is -16. Find the number.

So on reading the question carefully we can easily form the following equation,

( 2 / 5 - x ) * 10 = - 16
( 2 / 5 - x ) = - 16 / 10
2 / 5 - x = - 1.6
0.4 - x = - 1.6
- x = - 1.6 - 0.4
- x = - 2

x = 2
