✴Hey guys....✴

✴ Here is an intresting ques for uh all Nitrogen gas is filled in packets bcuse it is non reactive gas...Bt its electronic configuration is 2,5...Then how...!??? ✴

✴Searching for a long and detailed answers... ✴

♥THANKU ♥

drnmishrap5oyxk: 2 people are already writing your answer, but I'd like to say that when you put it's configuration in s,p,d,f, it is 1s2 2s2 2p3, here the p orbital is half filled, half filled and full filled orbitals are the most stable, thus it is unreactive.
drnmishrap5oyxk: Also, when it comes to N2, it has got a triple bond which is hard to break, and thus it is considered as an unreactive gas. Hope this helps.
kavya139: tysm...dear hlped m alot...!!?
drnmishrap5oyxk: My Pleasure, guess I just missed out on the points I deserved but happy to help!

hey
This is because of subshell configuration
atomic number of nitrogen is 7
hence it's EC is
1s2 2s2 2p3

now half shell orbitals are more stable hence nitrogen does not react easily and has high 1 ionisation energy

kavya139: nd in nitrigen its strongest bond
Anonymous: yep
kavya139: hmmm...
Anonymous: ok then bye see u later
kavya139: bbye...nyc to meet uh
Anonymous: yep nice to meet u too
rakeshmohata: may I clear ur doubt..
rakeshmohata: triple bond is the strongest bond.. even in nitrogen..
rakeshmohata: if u notice CN- then u will notice that it is the one of the strongest ligand which has triple bond with carbon and the bond can't be broken easily!!
kavya139: yep.... exactly

nitrogen is not in the form of atomic nitrogen rather it is in combined form that is N2 . Nitrogen forms three bonds with the another nitrogen atom to form nitrogen gas ,which is unreactive and noble .So,it doesn't matter that it has electronic configuration 2,5 .

122004: hope it helps
