 \huge \mathfrak {hello}

The accumulation and progressive increase in the concentration of non biodegradable, harmful chemicals at different trophic levels in a food chain is known as biological magnification.

This happens as follows:

=>Pesticides and other chemical substances are sprayed over crops to protect them from pests and plant diseases.

=>From the soil, they are absorbed by the soil along with water and minerals.

=>From the water bodies, they are taken up by aquatic plants and animals.

In this way, they enter the food chain. Since these chemicals are non biodegradable, they get accumulated progressively at each trophic level. As human beings occupy the top level in any food chain, the maximum concentration of these chemicals gets accumulated in the human body.
