This sonnet is a beautiful one, penned by Elizabeth Barrett Browning,a lesson for the youth who take infatuation for love.Love cannot be skin or eye deep. Love cannot be for any reason, howsoever good that maybe. What seems to be appealing today, may lose its charm tomorrow. When people fall in love for superficial beauty and other qualities, they fail to fathom the intensity of their love. These things are momentary and may fade away with the passage of time. The earnestness is shown throughout the sonnet and the affect remains.

Hope it helps ;-)

"If though must love me" is a beautiful sonnet by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. In this sonnet she expressed her love for her future husband Robert Browning.

Explanation:

(If though - love's sake only)
_____________________

In these two lines poet expressed her expectations from his future husband and his lover.Poet wants her lover to love her without any particular reason. She wants him to love her only for loves sake.Because love never changes.Every thing in this world changes due to the cruel flow of time.Looks,Voice, Wealth etc can change with the time.So the poet doesn't want her lover for that reasons that can slowly but surely change in the future.

(Do not say - ease on such a day)
___________________________

Poet Elizabeth Barrett doesn't want her lover to love her for her physical appearance because they will soon fade with the flow of time. She also doesn't want her lover to love her because of the way she talks. Moreover the poet doesn't want her lover to love her because of the qualities that would only satisfy him just one day.

(For these things - unwrought so)
__________________________

These things refers to her physical appearance and natural behaviour.Because they can change with the flow of time or lose value to her lover. But true love is the only thing that can remain unchanged. The poets only want her lover to love her for loves sake not the things that are changeable. She believes if the love is based on changeable traits then it soon fades away.So she fears that her lover might also leave her if he loves her for her physical appearance only.

(Neither love - thy love thereby)
__________________________

The poet doesn't want her lover out of pity.Because when she forgets to weep then her lover might leave her.She believes that if a creature is comforted for long then it doesn't have any tears left.

(But love me - loves internity)
________________________

Poet is a selfish person she wants her love to be internal. So she only wants him to love her for loves sake not for the traits that can fade with the time. This way her love can last till the last day of her life.

Sorry I couldn't answer it before your exam (-_-)

Still hope you liked the answer.
