Consider ΔABD.

∠ADB = 90°

∠ABD = 60°

∠BAD = 30°

∴ BD : AD : AB = 1 : √3 : 2

BD : AD = 1 : \sqrt{3} \\ \\ \\ \frac{BD}{AD} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{3}} \\ \\ \\ AD = BD\sqrt{3} \\ \\ AD^2=(BD\sqrt{3})^2 \\ \\ AD^2=3BD^2

Hence proved!
