Hey guys! Please answer these questions ↓

1) The work done by the heart for each beat is 1 joule. Calculate the power of the heart if it beats 72 times in a minute.

2) The heart does 1.5 J of work in each heart beat. How many times per minute does it beat if its power is 2 watt?

Answer:

1.Work done by the heart per beat = 1 J

Work done by the heart in 72 beats, W = 1 x 72

= 72 J

Time Taken, t= 1 min = 60 s

Power, P = straight W over straight t = 72 over 60 space equals space 1.2 space W

2.Work done during each heartbeat = 1.5 J

Time taken, t = 1 min = 60 s

Power of heartbeat, P = P x t

= 2 Js-1 x 60 s

= 120 J

Number of times heart beats per minute = Total work doneworked done in each beat = 1201.5 = 80 times

Therefore, the heart beats 80 times per minute.

\huge\mathfrak{Solutions:-}

1) *Work done by the heart per beat = 1 J.

Therefore, work done by the heart in 72 beats , W = 1 × 72 = 72 J.

Now,

*time taken, t= 1 min= 60 sec.

We know that,

Power, P = W/t

= 72 J/60 s = 1.2 W. Ans.

2) Work done in each beat = 1.5 J

Time taken, t= 1 min= 60 s

Power, P= 2 W = 2 J/s

Total work done = P × t

= 2 J s^-1 × 60 s = 120 J.

Now,

Number of times heart beats per minute

= Total work done/ Work done in each beat

= 120/1.5 = 80 times. Ans.

Hope it helps...:-)
