sin+sin^2=1

sin=1-sin^2

sin=cos^2......(sin^2+cos^2=1)

on squaring both sides

sin^2=cos^4

1-cos^2=cos^4

1=cos^4+cos^2

Therefore , cos^2+cos^4=1.....
