There were several reasons because of which European countries were trading with India. First was that, indian textiles of silk and cotton had great demand in europe. Second reason was that of Indigo. Indigo was used for colouring the clothes and there were no artificial colours that time so it had also great market. Third was that of spices. India is a country full of spices and these spices had great demand in Europe. These are the reasons because of which European countries keen to do trade in India.
