#ANSWERWITHQUALITY  #BAL

Step-by-step explanation:

[Please see the attached figure]

Let the speed of the car which starts from A be x km/hr. and the speed of the car which starts from B be y km/hr.

According to the given problem,

When the two cars move in the same direction they meet at point C (say) after 8 hrs.

∴ In 8 hr., Distance covered by the car which starts from place A is AC = 8x km.

∴ In 8 hr., Distance covered by the car which starts from place B is BC =  8y km.

                               [∵ Distance = Speed x Time]

∴ AC - BC = 80

=>8x - 8y = 80

=>8(x - y) = 80

=> x - y = 10   -----------(i)

When the two cars move in the same direction they meet at point C (say) after 1 hr. 20 min. = 4/3 hr.  [∵ 1 hr.20 min  = (1 + 20/60) hr. =(1 + 1/3) hr.=4/3 hr.]

∴In 4/3 hr., Distance covered by the car which starts from place A is AC =  4x/3 km.

∴ In 4/3 hr., Distance covered by the car which starts from place B is BC =  4y/3 km.

∴AC + BC = 80

=>(4x/3) + (4y/3) = 80

=>4x + 4y = 240

=>4(x + y) = 240

=>x + y = 60 ----------(ii)

On Adding equation (i) and (ii), We get,

x - y + x + y = 60 + 10

=>2x = 70

=> x = 35

Putting the value of x in (ii), We get,

35 + y = 60

=>y = 60 - 35

=>y = 25

∴Speed of the car which starts from A is 35 km/hr.

& Speed of the car which starts from B is 25 km/hr.
