♦ Then, VAT added,
= 4% of x
= 4/100 × x
= 4x/100
♦ Price including VAT,
= original price + VAT
= x + 4x/100
= (100x + 4x)/100
= 104x/100
♦ But, according to the question, price including VAT = 36.40
→→→ 104x/100 = 36.40
=> x = 36.40 × 100/104
=> x = 3640/104
=> x = 35
•°• The price before VAT was added was 35 Rs.
