So, here formula of area can be

1/2 * AB * BC

'or'

1/2 * AC * BD

Both will have same answer

So, we can equate

1/2 * AB * BC = 1/2 * AC * BD

AB * BC = AC * BD

5 * 12 = 13 * BD

BD = 4.61cm

Length of perpendicular = 4.61cm
