-photoperiodism:(photo=light,periodism=duration)

-def: Response of plant to the relative length of light and dark period with respect to initiation of flowering

-the term given by two American scientists garner &Alard in (1930)

-it regulates flowering in the plants

-vernalisation/yarovization:(chilling treatment to seed or plant)

-def: Treating plant with low temp. for subsequent growth & flowering

-its explanation done by T.D.-lysenko (1928)

-significance: vernalization shortens vegetative phase,

-induce flowering early,

-increase resistance for cold & fungus

-converts winter variety into spring

-also biennial varieties can be converted

into annual variety

e.g.-Rye,oats,wheat,etc
