GIVEN THAT -

 \tan( \frac{a + b}{2} )  =  \cot( \frac{c}{2} )

we \:  \: know \:  \: that \:  \:  -

 \cot( a )  =  \tan( {90}^{0}  - a)

So,

 \tan( \frac{a + b}{2} )  =  \tan( \frac{\pi}{2}  -  \frac{c}{2} )

 \frac{a + b}{2}  =  \frac{\pi}{2}  -  \frac{c}{2}

 \frac{a + b + c}{2}  =  \frac{\pi}{2}

a + b + c = \pi

So , it's a triangle.
