HOLA!!!

POINTS TO NOTICE

  1. IN QUESTIONS RELATED TO ELIMINATING A VARIABLE
  2. MULTIPLY A VARIABLE WITH SAME QUANTITY ON BOTH EQUATIONS
  3. SUCH THAT BOTH VARIABLES ARE NOW EQUAL
  4. NOW MAKE OUT THE VALUE OF VARIABLE THAT WAS LEFT
  5. PUT THAT VALUE IN ANY EQUATION ABOVE TO FIND THE OTHER VARIABLE

GIVEN:-

2X + 3Y = 8

4X + 6Y = 7

TO FIND :-

FIND X AND Y

METHOD USED:-

ELIMINATION METHOD

SOLUTION:-

AS , 2X + 3Y = 8 ........................(1)

4X + 6Y = 7 ........................(2)

MULTIPLY EQ. (1) BY 2

4X + 3Y = 8 ...................(3)

NOW SUBTRACTING EQUATION 3 BY EQUATION 2

4X + 6Y - (4X + 3Y) = 7 - 8

3Y = -1

Y = 1/3

PUTTING VALUE OF Y IN EQ. 1

2X + 3 × -1/3 = 8

2X - 1 = 8

2X = 9

X = 9/2

Answer:

2x + 3y = 8 ......(1)

4x + 6y = 7 .....(2)

Step 1 : Multiply Equation (1) by 2 and Equation (2) by 1 to make the coefficients of x equal. Then we get the equations as :

4x + 6y = 16 ......(3)

4x + 6y = 7 .........(4)

Step 2 : Subtracting Equation (4) from Equation (3),

(4x – 4x) + (6y – 6y) = 16 – 7

i.e., 0 = 9, which is a false statement.

Therefore, the pair of equations has no solution.
