▶Being a Kharif crop paddy is cultivated during the months 'June' to 'October' as it requires rain and is dependent on western monsoon.

▶Planting of seeds in the soil is known as Sowing.
▶This is done after ploughing.
▶The different methods of sowing are:-
▶Broadcasting:-
❇ It is the process by which seeds are scattered in the field manually by hand.
▶Seed Drill:-
❇ It is a special implement which consists of a funnel opening into a long pipe.
❇ Seed drill is attached at the back of the plough.
❇ Seeds are dropped into the funnel and they then get planted in the furrows made by the moving plough.

c) What measures must be taken to prevent the spoilage and insect attacks of harvested grains?
➡The measures that must be taken to prevent the spoilage and insect attacks of harvested grains are:-
▶Harvested dry grains should be stored in granaries and silos.
▶Harvested food grains contain more moisture than required for storage so these grains should be sun - dried before storing to prevent growth of microbes on them and hence to stop the spoilage of food grains.
▶The perishable items like fruits and vegetables that have higher moisture content should be stored in large cold storages or deep freezers to prevent them from spoilage.
