An erect image, in optics, is one that appears right-side up. An erect image is formed when both rays intersect each other at a certain point. It is an image in which directions are the same as those in the object, in contrast to an inverted image.

In a plane mirror the light ray reflect that is they do not even meet and just reflect from the surface. When we stand in front of the mirror our brilliant brain perceives as if they diverge from a point and presumes as if an image was really formed BUT IN REALITY IT DID NOT .ITS JUST A PERCEPTION OF OUR BRAIN. so to conclude simply VIRTUAL IMAGES ARE PERCEPTIONS MADE BY OUR BRAIN. And coming to erect image it is something kind of an upright image.

hope it helps you
