Sugarcane is grown on around 2.8% of Gross Cropped Area of India. India produced around 352 million tonnes of sugar in 2015-16. Largest sugarcane producing state of India is Uttar Pradesh, which has 38.61% share in overall sugarcane production as per 2013-14 figures.
