Chandragupta Maurya was helped by chanakya as chanakya had his own profit hidden behind it. he wanted to take revenge from the ruler who insulated him by calling him a lower caste person even though he was a brahmin. this made him furious and he took the pledge that he won't tie up his hairs untill he destroys the whole of that king's kingdom.
