This partition was part of the end of British rule over the Indian subcontinent, called British Raj. The partition was caused in part by the two-nation theory presented by Choudhary Rehmat Ali, due to presented religious issues. Pakistan became a Muslim country, and India became a majority Hindu but secular country.

Answer:

This partition was part of the end of British rule over the Indian subcontinent, called British Raj. The partition was caused in part by the two-nation theory presented by Choudhary Rehmat Ali, due to presented religious issues. Pakistan became a Muslim country, and India became a majority Hindu but secular country.

Partition triggered riots, mass casualties, and a colossal wave of migration. Millions of people moved to what they hoped would be safer territory, with Muslims heading towards Pakistan, and Hindus and Sikhs in the direction of India.
