Charles Babbage, the inventor of the computer, might not have thought that his invention would be so useful. It has caused a revolution in human life. In fact, we are living in the computer age. He invented it to solve the complicated scientific problem. Initially, it performed calculation fast and accurately, after modification by a number of scientists, it is becoming indispensable day by day nowadays.
There is hardly a corner of our life that is unaccessible to the computer. It is used in almost all fields of our life. Scientists use it in their research. Researches requires complex calculation, which may take a long time and may seem tedious. Here comes the help of computer which performs the calculations in a short time and correctly. The computer has helped to discover new planets. It has helped man to approach Saturn, Mars and Moon. Exploration of hirthrto-hidden secrets has become possible with the help of the computer. It is used in complex surgeries to analyze and view the infected organs of human body. Aircraft and missiles are also controlled by it; industrialists use ut for calculating income, expenditure and value of products. Apart from the above places, the computer is used in schools, offices, shops, etc.
But the computer is not without shortcomings. Too much use of the computer affects the eyes adversely. Many health hazards are caused by it. Another thing it has no heart and so it cannot decide whether its decisions have good or bad effects. It can displace workers and thus create unemployment problem. It can cause destruction by dropping missiles. Then millions of innocent people can die. The whole country can be destroyed.
It is not that the computer may be harmful. It is the user that will bring devastation. Therefore, man should be careful while in the use of the computer.
