Aristotle was the first one to give a scientific classification of organisms.
He divided plants into herbs,shrubs and trees.
He divided animals into Anamia and Enamia on the basis of presence of red blood. Enamia are the hot blooded animals and have red blood while Anamia were the cold blooded ones with no red blood. The latter can't adjust their body temperature while the cold blooded animals can.
Though,this classification couldn't stay for long
