Developing embryo get the nutrition through the placenta which acts as an endocrine tissue becoz it produces several harmones like HCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin), HPL(human placental lactogen) ,estrogen and progesterone which helps to maintain pregnancy .

Placenta develops with the embryo during the eighth week of pregnancy. Placenta supports the pregnancy by eliminating wastes from the fetus, regulating temperature and regulating blood supply.
