The square root of a negative number, such as sqrt -144, is undefined. Explain why the square root of –x, sqrt -x, is not necessarily undefined and what this means about the domain and range of f(x) = sqrt -x.

Step-by-step explanation:

if x belongs to R

it can take negative values as well.

for every negative value of x, -x is positive.

thus if domain of x is R- then √{-x} will not be imaginary.

here R= Real numbers
