Answer:

(R + r) = 4 ---------(1)

(R - r) = 1 -----------(2)

On adding (1) and (2), We get,

R + r + R - r = 4 + 1

2R = 5

R = 5/2

Put this value of R in (1),We get

R + r = 4

5/2 + r = 4

r = 4 -5/2 =( 8-5) /2 = 3/2

Answer:

R-r = 4 (1)

R= 4 + r

R - r = 1 (2)

put the value R in equation (2)

R - r = 1

4 - r - r = 1

4 - 2r = 1

2r = 3

r = 3/2 (3)

put the value of r in equation (2)

R - r = 1

R - 3/2 = 1

R = (2+3)/2

R = 5/2
